ANGIE’S RENTAL APARTMENT. INT/NIGHT.
The sound of the door bell reverberates in the sparselyfurnishedflat. The dinner table is setfor two, a candleflickers inside the ornate center-piece. Angie (in her late 30s, a good-looking brunette) exits the bathroom pulling her skirt down.

ANGIE

(in a high-pitched tone)

Coming, just a second.

Angie stops by the door and takes a deep, deliberatebreath,
checks her hair with a hand and opens the door
with the
biggest smile.

ANGIE (CONT’D)

Ana…

Ana, possibly even prettier than Angie, enters the apartment
smiling, holding up a bottle of wine. They kiss
on the cheek.

ANGIE (CONT’D)

(taking the bottle, looking
impressed)

A 2007 Vega del Castillo… Ana…You
didn’t have to. No need to impress me
tonight, we’re not at the office.

ANA

(giggling)

It’s just a bottle of wine… the guy
from the shop says it’s pretty good…
Shall we open it up?

ANGIE

You bet.

As they walk towards the kitchen, Ana takes in the

apartment: it’s very sparse, a table, a sofa, a carpet,

some pictures on the walls (the ones that come already in

the frame at IKEA)

ANA

It’s nice here… it has like a lofty

feeling…

Angie opens a kitchen drawer looking for a bottle-opener

but it seems she can’t find it. Opens another one,

nothing.

ANGIE

Ah, thanks, yes… that was the idea.

Besides, too much furniture, I don’t

know, it doesn’t let me breath… Bloody

hell, where the heck is the bottleopener?

ANA

When did you say you moved in?

ANGIE

(opening yet another drawer)

Do you know why cleaning ladies never put

things back to where they belong?

ANA

(giggling)

I wouldn’t know, never had one.

(a beat, getting serious)

You know those clients’ accounts I had to

check? There’s something that doesn’t

seem quite right…

Angie opens yet another drawer.

ANGIE

Really? Oh dear. Did you tell Marc?

ANA

Oh, no. I wanted to tell you first…

(now realizing that the

kitchen is perfectly clean)

Are we eating out?

ANGIE

(taking out a sharp knife

from a drawer)

This would do.

The sudden BUZZ of the door bell makes the two girls

start.

ANGIE’S RENTAL APARTMENT. INT/NIGHT. FRONT DOOR.

A chinese teenager is handing a white plastic bag over to

Angie, who gives him some money in return.

ANGIE

Keep the change, darling.

(closing the door and

triumphantly showing Ana the

bag)

Dinner-time!
